This smoothie came along a couple of days ago when Sophie kicked off the festival season and looked like she needed a bit of perking up the day after.
And to do the job, I opted to blend a few little bits and bobs together into my own and very special hangover detox smoothie featuring pineapple, ginger and young stinging nettle from our garden.
Why did I chose them? Because they are three super heroes in the field of cleansing and getting rid of free radicals in your body and they taste great together. Well, I did also add some frozen banana. Because I love a bit of frozen banana sweetness.
And before I forget, this smoothie was blended with a simple hand blender, so no excuses. Get blending.
- 1/2 to 1 cup of fresh young stinging nettle leaves
- 1 cup pineapple chunks
- 1/2 to 1 tsp finely chopped fresh ginger (depending how fiery you like it)
- 3/4 cup frozen bananas
- 1/4 cup water (or more to reach desired consistency)
HOW IT’S DONE
Very simple. Add all ingredients to a blender or mixing beaker and blend until you are happy with the consistency. You may wish to add more liquid.
If you are, like me, using a hand blender make sure you give it a good long blend on the most powerful setting your blender allows. Take breaks in order not to overheat the motor of the blender.
